Lately....

So... I have been told on more than one occasion that I am what you call a "blog slacker."
And, sadly, I'll admit to that.
I started the blog right as last semester started to get busy...
BUT
(Drum roll everyone....)

Tomorrow I begin my very last semester of my undergraduate education.

That means I can finally slack off.
Really though... it's called "senioritis" - a commonly known malady that attacks even the most diligent of students during their very last semester.
I used to be one of those. Now I plan to blog.
HA... but really. I am deciding between 6 and 9 credits right now. I expect to have plenty of time to get into this blogging thing. And maybe do our laundry on time every week.
Oh and visiting teaching too.
(oopsies December... not sure what happened that month)
I promise.... this time it's for real...
SO everyone, you can stop accusing me of blog slacking already!
New Year... new resolution... new commitment to blog.
Done.

Here's a few of the fun things we've been up to since I took my last blogging hiatus:

Sometime in October/November we met THIS guy-



Coach Lon Kruger of the UNLV Runnin' Rebels.
I think this might be a happier moment for Chasen than our wedding day.
Too bad when this pic was taken I was in the middle of telling Coach that even though we're up in Utah and I go to BYU... we'll be cheering for the Rebels with a big crowd come February 5th.
Go Rebs.
Amen.

December came time to decorate for Christmas!!
One of my most favorite things to do during the holiday season.

Chase claims that he married Christmas Spirit herself...
but I just say that he's actually sometimes a scrooge...
I, of course, am not the over-the-top one here.

Mr. Scrooge was worried I would spend wayy too much on decorations...
so rather than buy real wreaths that I wanted so badly for our red wall,
I made two fun feather boa wreaths.
Easy: Just bend a wire clothes hanger into a circle, buy a feather boa from the craft store for about $6 and twist around the wire circle. Voila!

Christmas Eve:

Chase finally couldn't wait ANY longer... so we ended up opening up our presents to each other on Christmas Eve. Well, it technically was after midnight, but still against my usual rules. It actually was kinda fun and might end up being a new tradition. We'll see.

I guess Chase really did end up having a very Rebel Christmas...
Along with the ornament I got him, he ended up with the new black jersey from Rebel Swag,
A rebel tee,
Hat,
Pajama pants,
And new Nikes for the gym... in rebel colors.

Chasen surprised Haley with this Jazz jersey.
The result?
This is how we looked last Thursday when both the Jazz and Rebs played.
We're so cool.

Welcome to the Fam

I probably am not the the best person to be offering a big welcome to the McCormick family, considering I've only been a part of it myself for only 5 months

(wait 5 months??? whaaaat? We've been marred THAT LONG?!?)

Married Life... Thus Far

So... I'm a blog slacker. I've been dragging my feet because I knew that this first post would take me a while to figure out how to do everything... and I seriously have not had much time at all. But anyhow, enough of me whining.

Here's a little looksy at what Chasen and I have been up to for the past few months:

We got married in this pretty place on May 15th, 2010

Then we had a big party/bbq/picnic/reception at my house that night

Ate some cake.

Danced a few dances

We left in a sweet car...

And then headed to another pretty place...

Saw some pretty cool ancient ruins

And... we ate a bunch of these...

(they were the cheapest lunch at our fancy schmancy hotel...)

(and let's be frank here, hot dogs really are Haley's favorite)

Sadly though, we had to leave paradise.

But it was so much easier leaving knowing we were moving into this cute little place.

{Disclaimer: The decorating took pretty much all summer. Wasn't like this when we moved in.

PS- Thanks Aunt Bobby for letting us paint the wall of your basement apartment red.

Don't worry... we'll figure out how to fix it before we move out. And by we I mean Chase.}

Had a lot of fun getting our "little humble abode" all cozy.

It really does feel like home now. We love it.

We painted this little beauty red and mod-podged (sp?) the drawers.

Bought glass knobs from lowe's and it was an entirely new dresser.

I felt so domestic.

And our tv and fireplace... okay so the fireplace isn't a real fireplace.

But this little heater does warm up our whole apartment

And it's fun.

We also rode a bicycle built for two a few times this summer

Spent a lot of time playing with these cute kiddies-

Whatever. They're cute, whatever they are to me.}

They like to attack Chasen.

But I think he secretly likes it too.

Lukas is a pretty hilarious little guy.

I became president of this society at the end of the summer

The Student Chapter, to be exact.

{Don't ask me how that happened... I still have no idea}

And Chase started school here

He is currently loving his major in Environmental Science.

Like REALLY loving it. He has officially turned into a school nerd...

And I couldn't be happier.

We've spent a lot of time hanging out with our "besties" the Morgans

We even went camping and cooked up one completely

nutritious meal-

Hot dogs split with cheese & jalapenos in the middle, then wrapped in bacon.

Yum.

In other news... we got called as Sunday School teachers for the 13-year-olds.

And they love us. Just kidding I don't know if they love us.

But we love them. So we like to pretend that they love us back.

We've hung out a lot with Chase's brother Jordan and wife Brooke.

They are just funny to be around.

Their little baby girl should be here any day now!

Overall, I really have had the best few months of my life, all starting on 5.15.10-
the best day of my life.
{I know... that is terribly cheesy. I promise this won't be one of
THOSE types of blogs... you know what I'm talking about:
The newlywed "My life is so perfect.. I am just SO BLESSED" type of blog}
{I cross my heart.}
